About Little Softer Days
A small site for anyone standing in a card aisle, or staring at a blank card, wondering what to give and what to say.
Why I started this site
For years, I lived with low moods and deep emotional pain. Life had its highs and lows, but the low periods lasted longer. From the outside, my life could look good. Inside, it felt very different.
I went through a breakup, job loss, financial setbacks and major surgery. Finding a way through was a long process. It was difficult to explain what I was living with, even when other people thought things were fine.
During that time, I received kindness from friends and family. Their gifts and gestures could not solve what I was going through, but they made their care visible. They were a silver lining in a difficult part of my life.
I started Little Softer Days because I love small, affectionate gifts and the meaning they can carry. This site brings together thoughtful gifts and words for celebrations, difficult days, and the moments when you want someone to know you care.
What this site is for
The moments that matter most are often the hardest to find words for. A graduation, a tenth anniversary, a friend having the worst year of their life. Each gift guide here tells you who a gift suits and who should skip it. Each quote page gives you original lines to copy, and the clichés to leave out.
What we won't do
- Claim that a product can treat depression or any other condition.
- Say we tested something when we didn't.
- Pretend a gift can replace being there, or replace professional care.
